Wellington aircrew of No 149 Squadron at Mildenhall on 1 May 1941. On the night of 31 March - 1 April 1941, during a raid on Emden, a specially modified Wellington flown by Pilot Officer J H Franks (centre, with moustache) dropped one of the first two 4,000lb high-capacity (HC) blast-bombs of the war.
