Pieter Withoos - Reunion dodo
Summary
Reunion Albinistic Dodo and other birds by Dutch artist Pieter Withoos (1654-1693). The bird was thought to have been drawn from a living specimen brought to Amsterdam, but was actually copied from a painting by Pieter Holsteyn, which might in turn have been copied from a 1611 painting of a likewise white dodo by Roelant Savery.[1] From collection of Lord Rothschild
