Rehabbing Old Post District history
Summary
A vintage postcard, postmarked 1939, depicts the Fort Bragg Artillery Stables Area buildings, with horse-drawn elements of the 2nd Battalion, 83rd Field Artillery Regiment on what is now Woodruff Street in the Old Post Historic District. The Artillery Stables Area, along with the Quartermaster Stables Area further east on Woodruff Street, are soon to be the subject of an “Adaptive Reuse Study” by the Savannah District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, based upon a report that Fort Bragg’s Cultural Resources Management Program is now compiling. A very large dataset of various big guns, howitzers, mortars, columbiads, all types of canon-like things - everything besides machine guns and rockets. This collection as well as all massive collections on Picryl.com required two steps: First, we picked a set to train AI vision to recognize cannon artillery, and after that, ran all 25M+ images in our database through our image recognition network. All media in the collection is in the public domain. There is no limitation on the dataset usage - educational, scientific, or commercial.
