Reconstructed 1903 Wright Flyer Wing-Warping Technology

description

Summary

The Wrights realized that the plane would have to bank in the direction of the turn (just as a bicyclist needs to lean when making a turn). They developed the idea of twisting the entire wing, causing one end of the wing to have more lift and the other end to have more drag. In this photo you can see the warping of the left wing.
