"The nett [sic] proceeds from the sale of these photographs will be devoted to the education of colored people in the Department of the Gulf, now under the command of Maj. Gen'l Banks" printed on back of the mount.

Gladstone's inventory number and notes: CDV87; slave children.

"No. 2" on back of the mount.

"CDV493" and "LE987" written in pencil on back of the mount.
