First Floor.—This is devoted to radio- and electro-therapy, andhas, in addition to the special X-ray treatment cubicles, cubicles for carbon-dioxide snow work, radium treatment, diathermy, the mercury vapourlamp, Schnee four-celled bath, and galvanism and faradism. A feature of this floor is a small room fitted as a combined X-raydepartment and an operating theatre for diathermy, electro-coagulation,and for the removal of foreign bodies. The Dark Room.—When a large amount of work has to be got throughit is necessary to have a large and well-equipped dark room, Avith possiblyan outer dark room. The ventilation should be good, and the heating of the roomshould be carefully attended to. Several hghts are required : (a) Two or 122 KADIOGRAPHY more ruby lights ; (6) a yellow light for printing, etc. The developmentshould be arranged for at one end of the room, a capacious sink with a goodsupply of hot and cold water being provided. Next to this is placed awashing tank, then a fixing tank or tanks, and lastly another washing tank.These should all be large and deep. A drying rack should be placed nearto the final washmg tank, also a viewing-box for inspection of the negatives.Plates and papers should be kept in a lead-lined cupboard if an outer darkroom has not been provided.
