The estimates of cost of construction are basedupon the same scale as those which have been already sub-mitted to the Brazilian government by the concessionairesof scheme No. 5 on table, being at the rate of 111:040$100per kilometre of railway, and 6:218$384: per kilometre ofriver section, the value of the milreis, for the sake of sim-plicity, having been taken at two shillings, or threepencebelow par.
