Eleanor Roosevelt was an American political figure, diplomat, and activist. She was the longest-serving First Lady of the United States, holding the position from 1933 to 1945 during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office. She was also involved in the formation of the United Nations and served as its first chairperson of the Human Rights Commission. The family has produced several notable politicians, including two United States Presidents: Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
