Fiftieth Anniver-sary of the Battle. This was followed in September by Lieu-tenant Colonel John P. Nicholson, Chairman, Gettysburg Na-tional Park Commission, calling a meeting of the citizens ofGettysburg on the same subject, a sub-committee thereof wait-ing upon Governor Stuart Octobei 15th, he assuring them thattheir suggestion met his approval, as had those of GeneralHuidekoper, and that he would in his Biennial Message to thenext General Assembly of Pennsylvania, January, 1909, ad-dress that Honorable Body thereon, which action appears onpage three of this Report, and Mhich was also the first officialrecognition given this great movement. The following financial statement of Mr. Samuel C. Todd,our Treasurer, is self-explanatory, showing every obligationof the Commission, as presented and audited, has been metwith full payment, and that there remains as of this date, De-cember 81, 1913, of Pennsylvanias total appropriation of$450,000.00 to this Commission, an unexpended balance of
