Paul Hollen reads the Code of Conduct during the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Retreat ceremony, Sept. 21, 2012, at Joint Base Charleston – Air Base, S.C. Hollen served as a waist gunner on a B-17 when it was shot down over Germany in 1945. A rough parachute landing left Hollen face down in the German snow with a serious back injury. German soldiers captured him and he spent the next six months at a POW camp in Moosburg, Germany.
