Summary

Drawing shows two types of palanquins: a "Kago" or basket attached to a frame, and a "Norimbus"? or the traditional enclosed, box-like palanquin with sliding panels, complete with passenger and porters.

Includes Japanese text on the right, outside the image box.

Inscribed in pencil on lower left corner of paper mount: Kano Oct. 1878.
