“Opportunity Lost: The Final Confederate Push at Glendale Falls Short”

description

Summary

This real-time walking tour focused on the final moments of the Battle of Glendale in which Federals ultimately succeeded in wresting victory from resilient Confederates. Poor communication, ineffective leadership, and Confederate commanders’ lack of coordination of their attacks enabled perseverant Federals to slip through the Confederate army’s grasp at the narrow Glendale crossroads, resulting in what one notable historian has defined as “one of Lee’s three greatest missed opportunities of the war.”
