Marine Brig. Gen. J. A. Kessler, commanding general of 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward), holds the signed Beneficial Occupancy Date letter, officially opening the newly renovated runway at Camp Taqaddum. The airfield is operating at full capability for the first time in two years. A group of Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1 worked feverishly for three months to repair unusable parts of the runway. NMCB-1 is part of nearly 1,200 Sailors and Marines supporting critical construction efforts in the Anbar province of Iraq and several other locations in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
