German, Mohre.âFrench, Carotte.âSpanish, Zanahoria. One ounce of carrot seed will sow a row about loo feet long; four pounds will sow an acre. J9S"We have exercised the greatest possible care in selecting the best varieties of carrots, and the careful manner in which the seed has been saved will insure our customers purity of strain and the most satisfactory results from sowing our car- rot seed. i a ft i TRENCH BEl) FORCING. An excellent dark red coreless variety with very % small, short top, remaining tender, juicy and sweet a long time after being fit to pull. Its remarkably rapid growth and very small top render it one of the best and most profitable S sort for sowing under glass during the autumn or early spring. Can be allowed to remain ^ quite thick in the ground. Pkt. 5c., oz. loc, lb. 25c. ,1b. 75c. Oh FRENCH MARKET. Fine grained and good flavor. Pkt. sc., oz. 10c., ^ lb. ^^b6c., lb. Ji.oo. S h OX-HEART, or GUERANDE. It is intermediate as to length between the half ^ Ibng varieties (such as Danvers) and the Short Horn Carrot, but much thicker than the latter, attaining at the top from three to four inches in diameter. It is a very fine quality â g for the table. Pkt. 5c., oz. 10c., lb. 20c., lb. 550. M j>I.MERICAN L,UC HAIiF L,ONG. The color of this valuable new sort is a rich snade of orange-red, and in shape and size midway between the Early Scarlet Horn and g Long Orange. Top small, considering the size of the roots, which are smooth, straight and free from roughness ; is early ; without core, very tender and sweet. Admirably O adapted to either glass or open-groimd culture; excellent for early or late. Pkt. 5c., oz. « lb. 25c.,lb.9oc. ^NEW PERFECTION RUBICON, or MODEL CARROT. In this new va- S riety we have an entirely new and distinct American carrot; very symmetrical in shape 0 and of a beautiful, deep golden orange color. The stock is so finely bred, and the carrots A have attained such uniform shape, that they are almost exact duplicates of each other. It * is earlier than the Danvers; the leaves are one-third shorter ; fewer and finer than this S well-known sort. It is an excellent sort for growing under glass or outside, at any season ^ of the year. It grows without neck ; the crown is hollow ; and it grows well under the ^ ground, which prevents it from becoming sunburntâa very important feature. Its .table e qualities are unequalled, while its yield is enormous. Neither does it crack open like I® many other sorts. Pkt. 5c., oz. loc, lb. 25c., lb. 90c. ^j/fcHANTENAT. They are a little longer than the Short Horn, being thicker at the Shoulder and hence more productive. Pkt. 5c., oz. loc, J( lb. 20c., lb. 500. «i^»'tiONG NANTES STUMP ROOTED. For second early or late ; very uniform; handsome shape and color. Our customers will find this a very fine type of carrot, show- ^ ing marks of the highest breeding. Pkt. 5c., oz. loc, ^ lb. 25c., lb. 70c. g. ^iAMERIC .VN RED ALTRINGHAM. A handsome cylindrical-shaped carrot of %ood size. It is of a rich, dark orange color, grows to a large size, is smooth and the "5 flesh very close in texture, with little core. It is a first-class carrot for all soils, and it is (J claimed, that under good cultivation, it will yield the greatest weight per acre with the a smallest length of root of any now grown. For sowing in the autumn, under glass, it has g np equal. (See cut.) Pkt. 5c., oz. loc, J( lb. 30c., lb. ^i.oo. flV^' DANVERS POINTED. A most excellent variety for either field or garden culture; ^ large, symmetrical roots of a deep orange red ; in size between the Half Long and Long u Orange varieties. They are smooth and straight, and free from roughness. The tops are ;5 small, considering the size of the roots. It will be found superior to the Danvers Stump Rooted variety as a market sort, and much more productive. Pkt. 5c., oz. loc, lb. e 2^., lb. 90C. 'g i^nS'ICHOL.'S L.ONG ORANGE. The roots grow very regular and A smooth ; they are of good size, being from six to eight inches in length and two inches in ^ diameter at the top, tapering gradually from the shoulder to the tip of the roots. In col- ^ or, shape or size this is the ideal sort for a market gardener's late crop. Pkt. 5c., oz. 10c., «5 v; lb. 25c., lb. 85c a â ' 9 i/'IMPROVED intermediate. Extra fine.
