KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- Another shipment of Columbia debris is offloaded at the KSC RLV Hangar after transport from Barksdale AFB, Shreveport, La. Barksdale continues to be the receiving and shipping point for Columbia materials being sent to KSC for final identification. Inside the RLV Hangar, the Columbia Reconstruction Project Team will attempt to reconstruct the orbiter as part of the investigation into the accident that caused the destruction of Columbia and loss of its crew as it returned to Earth on mission STS-107. VANDENBERG AFB, Calif.-- Technicians check out the transport truck used to deliver NASA's Landsat Data Continuity Mission, or LDCM, satellite to Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. for prelaunch processing. The Landsat Data Continuity Mission LDCM is the future of Landsat satellites. It will continue to obtain valuable data and imagery to be used in agriculture, education, business, science, and government. The Landsat Program provides repetitive acquisition of high resolution multispectral data of the Earth's surface on a global basis. The data from the Landsat spacecraft constitute the longest record of the Earth's continental surfaces as seen from space. It is a record unmatched in quality, detail, coverage, and value. Launch is planned for Feb. 11, 2013. For more information, visit: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/landsat/main/index.html Photo credit: NASA KSC-2012-6499

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – At NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the MAVEN spacecraft, still in its shipping container, is prepared for transport following offload from a C-17 aircraft. The aircraft delivered MAVEN for processing ahead of a launch later this year on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. MAVEN, short for Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution, will orbit Mars to study the Red Planet's upper atmosphere in unprecedented detail. Photo credit: NASA/Tim Jacobs KSC-2013-3182
