Summary
The order Mantodea contains over 2,400 species of mantises. The mantis is an aggressive hunter, ambushing its prey and eating it alive. Their forelimbs are greatly enlarged and adapted for catching and gripping prey in this manner. Their closest relatives are termites and cockroaches.
