Joaquin Correia, executive officer of the Naval Computer and Telecommunication Station at Naval Air Station Sigonella and Dr. Giuseppe Abbate, from the Gela Kiwanis Club, render honors during a memorial service at the site of the Battle of Ponte Dirillo during a wreath laying ceremony. The ceremony marked the 66th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943. Thirty-nine U.S. service members lost their lives during the fighting at Ponte Dirillo.
