Summary

GELA, Sicily (Jul. 09, 2009) Lt. Cmdr. Joaquin Correia, executive officer of the Naval Computer and Telecommunication Station at Naval Air Station Sigonella and Dr. Giuseppe Abbate, from the Gela Kiwanis Club, render honors during a memorial service at the site of the Battle of Ponte Dirillo during a wreath laying ceremony. The ceremony marked the 66th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943. Thirty-nine U.S. service members lost their lives during the fighting at Ponte Dirillo.
