Summary
Lot 9439-18: Salt against Incendiaries. Professor William D. Turner of the New York Columbia University has discovered that table salt can just as easily and cheaply be used to extinguish incendiaries as sand. One or two 25-pound bags of salt are sufficient to extinguish a bomb. Picture shows Professor Turner pouring table salt over an incendiary bomb. Office of War Information Collection, Feb-Mar 1942.
