Summary
Lilongwe is the capital city of Malawi. Like many cities in Africa, it has seen phenomenal growth in the last 50 years. In 1966 the population was about 19,000; in 1987 the census counted 223,000 inhabitants; and in 2015 1,080,000 residents called Lilongwe home. . The Landsat image was acquired 27 August 1984, and the ASTER image on 31 July 2015.
