Letter from William P. Weeks, South Berswick, [Maine], to Amos Augustus Phelps, 1828 Nov[ember] 22

description

Summary

William P. Weeks writes to Amos A. Phelps about a previous money matter with Mr. Cromwell and Mr. Hayman. He concludes that he will pay the difference "out of my own pocket." He writes of Mr. Campbell who "preaches tomorrow for the last time" as he goes to New York and according to Weeks, "in all probability be settled somewhere there before the end of another year." He writes of other townspeople and writes of a possible engagement between himself and MIss Hill: "You ask me whether the bargain is really made between her and me-in Andover-I say that this is purely a business between our dear selves-no third person having knowledge thereof-although our intimacy has continued to exist for more than a year but between you and me-where secrets of high moment have been unbosomed I am wiling to say what has not been divulged to any other individual-but remember..it is only between you and me."
