Summary

Sophia Davenport writes to Caroline Weston in regards to a difficult journey out of town. Miss Harriet Braston has been obeying "Thompson's injunction to cry out aloud since she has been in Dedham." Davenport writes about Dedham's attitude towards abolitionism. She writes, "..the people are in a deplorable state of ignorance concerning the subject, those whom I have spoken to about it are very much prejudiced against abolition though they would all like to hear Mr. Thompson." Davenport read a chapter by Mrs. Lydia Maria Child on prejudice of Mr. Ford and heart that Mrs. Child "has had a party lately and invited colored persons." On a second sheet is a a receipt for $77 from Samuel J. May.
