Letter from Ranson G. Williams, New York, to Amos Augustus Phelps, 1845 Dec[ember] 19

Ranson G. Williams, Lewis Tappan, and W.E. Whitney write a brief letter to Amos A. Phelps about planning a special meeting for the Executive Committee for the purpose of considering a report on the office and Reporter at Washington and "an outline of effort for the promotion of the cause." Ranson G. Williams writes a second longer letter to Amos A. Phelps, explaining that the Executive Committee resolved to hire a business office and requests that Phelps go to Washington as soon as he can make arrangements. He mentions his health and says "I have not already room.my throat in the Anti-Slavery course & thereby induced a disease from which I am suffering daily, I from which I never expect to recover. I should be inclined to give up my business & take hold with you myself. But that is impossible." He also asks for permission to rent the desired room in Morse's building.
