Letter from Mary Anne Estlin, Bristol, [England], to Sarah Allibone Speakman McKim, 1853 June 27

Mary Anne Estlin writes to Sarah Allibone Speakman McKim regarding her friendship with Mr. McKim as well as abolitionist news. She writes that "for several years past it has fallen to the lot of my Father & myself to be the sole bridge of communication between the American abolitionists & those in England who have the will power but who lacks the needed light to render them effective aid." She writes that it has been "arduous work" but that Mr. McKim will be the "keystone of the arch" in order to "carry on to its completion the works which my Father had now to resign to other hands." She writes praise of McKim's characteristics. She also discusses her father's health condition.
