Letter from Harriet Lupton, Headingley, near Leeds, [England], to Mary Anne Estlin, [Year of publication unknown] Oct[ober] 25

description

Summary

Emily Sasson writes to Mary Anne Estlin on Oct[ober] 25 in regards to the Crafts having their books and Mrs. Massie "the piece of work." She received news from William of the birth of his son. She is delighted to hear of Miss Pugh and hopes she comes back into town. She is unable to go to the Great Duke's funeral. Mrs. Massie sent her a new periodical on slavery. She says, "That 'Teachings of the Church on Slavery' can do nothing, I think but harm." Harriet Lupton writes to Mary Anne Estlin on Oct[ober] 27 in regards to suggesting that they imitate the Salem Female anti-slavery society and have a course of anti-slavery lectures annually. She would like to have Professor Allen this year. She sent the Advocate to someone in Leeds. She does not see the prospect of their society inviting George Thompson. She is interested in Mr. Chesson's letters. She invited Mrs. Follen but she could not come.
