Letter from Elizur Wright, New York, to Amos Augustus Phelps, 1834 Nov[ember] 27

Elizur Wright Jr. writes to Amos A. Phelps regarding the Anti-Slavery Reporter, writing that "we have not yet voted to resume it. Its subscription list has never amounted to three hundred. We have found its style not well adapted to move the mass; to interest women & children and you know a great part of the man are instilled ably such..We need a first rate journal for first rate minds, and we must hand one as soon as we have strength..We have voted as you will see by the Emancipator to start a little monthly..Can you give us something for it? you will know what sort of provider we want." He writes of news of agents and suggests that they send each agent a package every month to provide for their subscribers.
