Elizabeth Pease Nichol writes to [Maria Weston Chapman] in regards to Wendell and Ann Phillips have reminded the writer of her desire to have a few of Daniel O'Connell's autographs for her anti-slavery fair, so she is sending ten. She writes, "He is the most good-natured kind-hearted person you can conceive." O'Connell left urgent engagement in Ireland to attend a meeting here on behalf of of British India. C.L. Remond had been "a great attraction at all the meetings" which he has attended" although he has forfeited a a large class of abolitionists by his noble refusal to ally himself with the "new organization." Her influence is decreasing because she has taken the unpopular side, but "Right will triumph in the end."
