Gaspard Felix Tournachon, also known as Nadar, was a French photographer, caricaturist, journalist and balloonist. He was born in Paris on 6 April 1820 and died in Paris on 21 March 1910. Nadar was one of the pioneers of photography in France and is best known for his portraits of famous people, including Victor Hugo, George Sand and Charles Baudelaire. He was also the first person to take aerial photographs from a balloon. Nadar's work had a major influence on the development of photography as an art form.
