Le Droit Park, 603-605 U Street, Northwest (Houses), Washington, District of Columbia, DC

Significance: Planned and developed as a residential subdivision of large freestanding houses and duplexes of related architectural design. Developed by Amzi L. Barber and Andrew Langdon on land purchased room Howard University in 1873. Scene of early attempt at racial integration. Houses occupied by prominent District and national figures up to the present, including many noted black educators, poet Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and District mayor Walter Washington. Anna J. Cooper founded Frelinghuysen University, an adult educational facility for working blacks, in her home at 201 T Street.
