John Kenneth Hoag enlisted in June, 1916, in the NewYork National Guard. He was on the Mexican Border withTroop A, 1st M. G. Cavalry. After the declaration of the WorldWar he was on patrol duty at the New York Aqueduct. He wasin training at Camp Wadsworth, Spartansburg, S. C, and wascommissioned second lieutenant in June, 1918. Lieutenant Hoagwas quartermaster of the hospital on Staten Island. After thearmistice was signed he was put in Army Transport Service andmade two trips across. He was discharged June 21, 1919. 171
