Joy (4), daughter of Celecia Green of Cairo, is screened by Sgt. Dewey Carver, an optical lab specialist with the 179th Medical Detachment (Optometry) based in Ft. Campbell, Ky. during Innovative Readiness Training exercise Southern Care 2014. Carver chose a creative way to screen Joy using glasses and a hand-held computer because of her unwillingness to have drops put in her eyes. The purpose of the civil-military program IRT SC14 is to improve military readiness while providing quality medical services at no cost to residents of Southern Illinois.
