San Narciso, Philippines (Aug. 19, 2005) Josephine Aglibot, a midwife with the Philippine Navy, explains a patient's situation to U.S. Navy Lt. Erik Modlo, a doctor assigned to the dock landing ship USS Harper's Ferry (LSD 49), during a combined medical and dental civic action project as part of the Philippines phase of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2005. More than 300 patients were treated during the exercise. CARAT is an annual series of bilateral military training exercises with several Southeast Asian nations designed to enhance the interoperability of the respective sea services.
