John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site

description

Summary

For 2017, John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site unveiled “Out of the Attic: The Maids of 83 Beals Street,” a living history program featuring Alice Michelin, the Kennedy family nursemaid, and Mary O’Donahue, the maid of all work. Presented during select days throughout the summer, the program revealed the once-hidden lives of the domestic servants. Visitors engaged with the maids to find out what life was like for servants in the Kennedy household and left with a greater appreciation for the lives of all residents at the Beals Street home.

Make your scrap tires save lives. Life rafts like this, standard equipment on American war planes that fly over stretches of open water, have saved the lives of many air crews. Men have been rescued after floating in them for weeks. The ten pounds of rubber in one of these vitally important rafts is about the amount of rubber in a worn automobile tire ready for scrapping
