Agricultural. Mexican cotton pickers. His hands full of soft white cotton, this Mexican worker takes a moment's rest from back-breaking labor. During the summer cotton harvest season, this Good Neighbor and hundreds like him, gave a hand to farmers near Corpus Christi, Texas, whose crops were threatened with ruin, because of the agricultural manpower shortage

A tractor pioneer of the Mississippi Delta. In 1927 he had 160 colored tenant families working his land, in 1936 he won thirty Farmall tractors and employs thirty families on day labor basis. He says, "Now I can make money. Hours are nothing to us. You can't industrialize farming. We in Mississippi know how to treat our niggers"

For patriotic agricultural service--wanted at once, men and boys who have had actual farm experience [...]

Damiel Sampson, farmer on unproductive land. Jefferson County, New York

Small cotton farmer, Kern County, California. He leases the land, and pays 1/4 of the crop for rent, also pays the water bill (irrigation). "It's come to that there's not going to be any more small farms in California. The big fellows have got us all with a ring in our nose. You take the small farmer like me--we can't come out. There's no difference hardly between me and my pickers--only I've got a place to stay out of the rain"
