Ghosts of times past in Inistioge
Summary
This beautiful image from the Clonbrock Collection is entitled "Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny [Gwynfryn, Woodstock]". The scene appears to have been taken in summer time with some of that rare visitor, the sun, paying a visit at the time. There are ghostly figures in the foreground including a ghostly dog but I am not sure if that counts for our dog spotters. How does that scene compare with todays?..The general consensus (based on the long exposure, lady's fashion/dress and buildings) is that this might be closer to the middle of the catalogue range (1880s/90s) - and certainly unlikely to be from the end of the range.......Photographers: Dillon Family..Contributors: Luke Gerald Dillon, Augusta Caroline Dillon..Collection: Clonbrock photographic Collection ( http://catalogue.nli.ie/Collection/vtls000315679 ) ..Date: Catalogue range c.1860-1930. Possibly middle of this range c.1880s/90s...NLI Ref: CLON1715 ( vtls000523723 ) ..You can also view this image, and many thousands of others, on the NLI’s catalogue at catalogue.nli.ie ( http://catalogue.nli.ie )
