George Weese Jr, a native of St. Louis, World War II veteran and retired private first class with the 16th Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Division, reacts to an M1 Abrams main battle tank during a demonstration conducted by the 1st Battalion, 67th Armored Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team at Dona Ana Range Complex, New Mexico, during Torch Week, November 5. 1AD's ‘Torch Week’ is an annual event commemorating the division’s role in the World War II invasion of North Africa, known as ‘Operation Torch,’ as well as to celebrate the division’s history, and honor the everlasting legacy of Iron Soldiers through week-long sporting and morale-boosting events, which promote camaraderie and cohesion throughout the division.
