Furry friend gives joy to local residents taking shelter from Hurricane Matthew
Summary
Palm Bay, FL – An Australian Labrador and its owner, Susan Espineta, from Cocoa Beach, Fla., took refuge from Hurricane Matthew in a pet-friendly shelter at the Ted Whitlock Community Center at Palm Bay on Friday.
When a group of Florida National Guard troops stopped at the shelter to fuel their vehicles, they encountered Luke, the Labrador, whose name in Greek means, “light giving.” Luke continued greeting citizens and troops alike as they arrived at the shelter shining a bright spot onto the community of people whose lives were faced with uncertainty from the storm.
