Summary
Satire on French peasants (No.8): a middle-aged woman, standing in profile to left, wearing a linen cap hanging over her ears, a short jacket, hood thrown back, short skirt and very large wooden shoes stuffed with wool; she holds a fan in one hand, the other tucked under her checked apron; a large cross hangs around her neck and a smaller one, together with pince-nez, hangs from a chatelaine at her waist. 1 April 1770
