FORT BENNING, Ga. – Maj. Gen. Gary M. Brito, commanding
Summary
FORT BENNING, Ga. – Maj. Gen. Gary M. Brito, commanding general of the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning, leads a COVID-19 town hall meeting April 28, live-streamed on Facebook . During the town hall, officials announced the first cautious steps toward what could become a broader, phased transition to lifting many additional restrictions that have been in place since March to minimize exposure to COVID-19. Those first steps, which take effect May 1, entail reopening the Recreational Shooting Complex and allowing resumption of hunting and fishing. Brito was joined for the town hall by Col. Matthew Scalia, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Fort Benning, and Col. Melissa Hoffman, commander of Fort Benning's Martin Army Community Hospital. It was the sixth online COVID-19 town hall Fort Benning has held since mid-March.
