She studies wild Mojave desert tortoises and also organizes health screening and clinics to keep local captive tortoises healthy. One of her current projects uses motion-sensitive cameras to study wild desert tortoise use of wildlife culverts.
Florence says, “I decided to become a wildlife biologist because I care about conserving biodiversity, wildlife species, and their respective habitats.”
