"Cotton Ed" Smith, of South Carolina, a delegation of congressmen from the cotton states called on President Roosevelt today and presented their demands for enactment of a farm program before congressional adjournment. Government workers union sponsors school in capital. Washington, D.C., Nov. 30. A school for government workers sponsored by the United Federal Workers of America, affiliate of the CIO, was inaugurated only two weeks ago but already the registration has increased 200 percent. A variety of courses are offered for which a tuition fee of $2.00 a course is charged to members in good standing of C.I.O. Unions. Non-members will be $2.50. Naturally, a class in Union Organization will be one of the principal courses. Miss Olivia Israli, instructor at the Federal Workers School, registering new students.
