KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- STS-117 Mission Specialist Patrick Forrester completes his suitup for launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis at 7:38 p.m. EDT from Launch Pad 39A. The shuttle is delivering a new segment to the starboard side of the International Space Station's backbone, known as the truss. Three spacewalks are planned to install the S3/S4 truss segment, deploy a set of solar arrays and prepare them for operation. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- In the White Room on NASA Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39A, STS-123 Pilot Gregory H. Johnson and Mission Specialist Garrett Reisman pause in front of space shuttle Endeavour's open hatch. They are getting ready to enter Endeavour for the simulated launch countdown, which is the culmination of the terminal countdown demonstration test, or TCDT. The TCDT provides astronauts and ground crews with an opportunity to participate in various countdown activities, including equipment familiarization and emergency egress training. Endeavour is targeted to launch at 2:28 a.m. EDT March 11 on the 16-day STS-123 mission to the International Space Station. Endeavour and its crew will deliver the first section of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's Kibo laboratory and the Canadian Space Agency's two-armed robotic system, Dextre. Expedition 48 NASA astronaut Jeff Williams rest in a chairs outside the Soyuz TMA-20M spacecraft a few moments after he and Russian cosmonauts Alexey Ovchinin and Oleg Skripochka of Roscosmos landed in a remote area near the town of Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016(Kazakh time). Williams, Ovchinin, and Skripochka are returning after 172 days in space where they served as members of the Expedition 47 and 48 crews onboard the International Space Station.
