Egyptian - Monkey Shaped Game Piece - Walters 71512 - Top
Summary
This monkey, seated, with its right paw supporting its head, left paw on the genitals, is carefully designed to look as through it had been carved from an astragal (knucklebone). The prototypes for such objects were undoubtedly made from real astragals. The shape and posture of the animal makes it likely that it was produced in Alexanderia.
