Drakkar (Larousse - detail - shields) A Brun

description

Summary

The Drakkar shields

A wooden Viking ship, long and narrow, with a highly bent bow and stern. Viking ships were designed for different purposes and not all were of the same size and type. Three of the best known and best preserved ships have been found in Norwegian mounds near the Oslo Fjord, at Gokstad, Useberg, and Thun. The Vikings often fought among themselves on ships of this type.
