Correspondence between A. A. Phelps and W. S. Porter, December 21, 1837 - January 20, 1838
Summary
This item contains the content of a series of seven letters exchanged between A. A. Phelps and W. S. Porter discussing “communications on the subject of a new organization” that Phelps intends to have published in the New England Spectator. The first letter by Phelps (a copy) broaches the subject. After this, Phelps's notes reports that he received a letter from Porter promising publication of his (Phelps's) article. The following five letters (three letters from Porter and copies of three letters by Phelps) discusses the reason why, after the first part of Phelps's article has been published, the second part was now, and would not, be published.
