Original Caption: New York University Corps called into active service. Mrs. And Mrs. Cleveland H. Dodge entertained the New York University Red Cross Ambulance Unit at a farewell lawn party and private review on June 22, 1917, at the Dodge Estate, Riverdale, New York. The ambulance unit left June 23, 1917 for the training camp, with two fully equipped ambulances. The unit was organized the first of the year as an emergency preparedness corps. The unit received a give of $10,000 from the Van Cordtlandt Chapter of the Red Cross at Riverdale. Photo shows the New York.U. unit drilling on the campus at University Heights, New York.
