The Louis Prang Company was a publishing and printing company specialising in the production of high quality colour lithographs and chromolithographs used for a variety of purposes including advertising, greetings cards and decorative prints. Prang was a pioneer in chromolithography, a printing process that uses multiple colours to create a single image. The Louis Prang Company became one of the largest and most successful printing firms in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He also played an important role in the development of the American Christmas card industry, producing some of the first commercially printed Christmas cards in the United States.
