Fort Larned national historic site - Buffalo Soldiers
Summary
Fort Larned was one of the first western Army posts to have a unit of the new African-American units authorized by Congress after the Civil War. Company A, 10th U.S. Cavalry was stationed at Fort Larned from mid-1867 to January of 1869.
