British patent 11575 Lodge IMPROVEMENTS IN SYNTONIZED TELEGRAPHY May 10 1897 fig 3 & 4

description

Summary

Two circuit schematics from British physicist Oliver Lodge's 10 May 1897 patent, showing his "syntonic" wireless telegraphy radio transmitter (bottom) and receiver (top). This patent was important because it was the first radio system with resonant circuits in the transmitter and receiver which were tuned to resonance with each other. When it was renewed in 1911 the Marconi Wireless Telegraphy Co. was forced to buy it from Lodge, to protect its own tuned radio system from suits.
