Brian F. Snowden son of retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Lawrence F. Snowden, gives remarks during his father’s memorial service at the U.S. Marine Memorial Chapel, Quantico, Va., April 8, 2017. His father retired in 1979 after nearly 40 years of service, fought in engagements during World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. He passed away Feb. 18, 2017. He was prominently known after retirement for organizing joint "Reunion of Honor" missions which is an opportunity for Japanese and U.S. veterans and their families, dignitaries, leaders and service members from both nations to come together to remember the Battle of Iwo Jima.
