Black Widow Spider - National Parks Gallery
Summary
The black widow, Latrodectus mactans, is a highly venomous spider. The female's abdomen is very shiny and black with red markings (if she has the red hourglass-shaped marking, it will be on the underside). They tend to have "messy" webs and love to build them in cracks of rocky outcrops.
